Interesting thing I’ve observed over the last few weeks…
Christian cats offering “respect” to fallen music artists publicly but not to their own living brethren. These same folks happen to also be the ones who trumpet the need for unity.

Upon release this was one of the most popular tracks on the album at radio. It quickly climbed to the #1 spot on over 50 stations across the USA and even more abroad. Real catchy track.

This email both cracked me up and made me shake my head.
Hi_____,
I swear my name is Josh and not ______.
*removed* is considered one of the major breeding grounds of hip-hops finest artists and continuing this trend is up and coming artist *removed*
Really?
*removed* is a rapper/producer, with a style that has the nostalgic feel of hip hop’s “golden era” combined with today’s modern sound. I have read your page and I absolutely love the format, I feel it fits his style. It would be great if you would consider doing a review or feature on *removed*, I think your readers will enjoy reading about him and his music.
Did you really read my page? If you did, how come you don’t know my name? *chuckle*
The lesson:
I know how hard it is to personalize a note for each and every spot you’re trying to promote to. I’ll admit that I use some copy in the same ways but I make every effort to personalize it to the point that you wouldn’t know it was the same info. Getting stuff submitted like what is above makes me reach for the delete button before I make it half way through the pitch… and I have much more patience for this than most. Learn from it if you’re promoting music.

After a hiatus (about 3 years?) it’s back. Song of the Day is now Daily Download. I wanted to get this going ahead of our website refresh (coming soon) to work out all the kinks. My goal is to mix it up and keep it interesting. Some classics and loads of new exclusives. Stuff you’ll want to check out regularly and also tell your friends about.
Currently you can check the spot for updates, hit up the RSS feed and soon get the updates via iTunes. It’s free and fresh.
Check out the track for today…
Check it out at Sphere of Hip-Hop daily download.
We had a grip of fun at the music festival and met thousands of people. In addition to having one of the busiest booths in the spot, we were able to give away a ton of CDs and educate many about faith based hip-hop. We even had regular giveaways for anyone who would show us their best freestyle or beatbox. People as young as 10 and as old as 45 participated. Awesome stuff. Oh and we had a robot that dominated our dance competitions.
Check our Facebook page for a few dozen photos from SonShine 2009. See you next year!
